The exhibition “Trinh T. Minh-ha: The Image Stripped Bare” presents a powerful survey of the Vietnamese-born filmmaker, theorist and composer’s work. Trinh, whose practice bridges cinema, feminism and postcolonial theory, is celebrated for her groundbreaking approach to the moving image - where sound, language and rhythm challenge Western notions of representation and truth.

Curated by Núria Gómez Gabriel and produced by La Virreina and Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, the exhibition brings together key films, installations and texts from Trinh’s career spanning four decades. Works such as Reassemblage (1982), Surname Viet Given Name Nam (1989), and Forgetting Vietnam (2015) exemplify her exploration of identity and displacement.

Through screenings and sound works, the exhibition invites us to reconsider how images shape our understanding of cultural otherness. This is Trinh T. Minh-ha’s first exhibition in Spain.
