Under the Influence of Gaudi
By Charlotte Stace
Don’t miss the last chance to see Under the Influence of Gaudí at the Castell de Montjuic. The Fashion Art Institute by Manuel Fernández has taken Antoni Gaudí’s genius as a pretext to merge fashion, art and architecture, creating a multidisciplinary collection where shapes and colours blend as one.
Gaudí’s work has served as a continuous source of inspiration for this project, which combines a number of artistic disciplines. The aim was to create both a fashion collection and an exhibition that pays homage to Gaudí’s style. Fashion, art, technology, sustainability and social commitment converge, offering a new experience for all to enjoy.
As Gaudí said, ‘To do things well you need: first, love; second, technique.’ His visionary work led to his famous double-twisted columns and organic capitals, which inspired Manuel Fernández to create 19 canvas suits. These suits have become living canvases for some of Spain’s most talented young visual artists, each representing a different autonomous community.
