Bobo Choses
By Michael Mueller

The drawings do the talking at Bobo Choses. Bananas, butterflies and clouds have all found their way onto clothes by the Barcelona label, founded in 2008 by Adriana Esperalba and Laia Aguilar. Its flagship on Rambla de Catalunya gives that cheerful graphic world a home, with collections for babies, children and women under one roof. There’s plenty here for grown-ups who never lost their taste for color.
Esperalba’s background in graphic design helps explain the appeal. Each collection begins with a story, and the illustrations carry it across sweatshirts, dresses, trousers and accessories. Past themes have drawn on Jacques Cousteau and Jane Goodall, bringing a curiosity about animals and the outdoors into the wardrobe. The prints have the loose, direct charm of a picture book; easy shapes give them room to work. A sweatshirt with a banana on it hardly needs a slogan.
The women’s line shares the same appetite for bold prints, making this a useful stop even when there are no children to shop for. For gifts, there are bags and accessories alongside the baby and kids’ collections. Seeing the range together is part of the pleasure: the same visual idea can turn up on something for a toddler and something you’d happily wear yourself. Matching is optional.
The flagship also makes space for workshops, exhibitions and events, extending the label’s interest in drawing and storytelling beyond the clothes. Check the brand’s program if you’re bringing the kids – a workshop makes a good excuse to let them choose the outing. And perhaps the sweatshirt.
