The Moco Museum presents The Future is Old, an exhibition by the Dutch multidisciplinary artist Robin Kid, known professionally as THE KID. It features works from his series The Future Is Old (2019) and It’s All Your Fault (2021), which look at societal issues such as institutionalised racism, social determinism and the erosion of civil rights. Through hyper-realistic paintings, sculptures and installations, he challenges viewers to confront the divisions and inequalities that characterise contemporary society.

Raised in a post-war mining town in the rural south of Holland, THE KID draws inspiration from both personal experiences and cultural influences, including religious iconography and the mass media. The aim of his work? He wants to encourage us to engage with a range of powerful themes, and, ultimately, reflect on how the youth of today can help shape a more equitable future for generations to come.
