Some of the best food in this city hides in the smallest rooms. Bangkok Café is a case in point – a tiny Thai kitchen on a quiet Les Corts street, more often than not crammed with Thai regulars who keep coming back for what tastes a lot like home.

That’s the surest sign you’re in the right place. Start with the steamed prawn or beef dumplings, then move on to a fragrant pad Thai or one of the stronger curries – and trust your server when they warn you a dish is “quite spicy,” because here they mean it. A few frosty bottles of Singha keep the heat in check.

You won’t eat as cheaply as you would on Bangkok’s Khao San Road, but €10 to €15 still buys you a feast. It’s small, it’s honest and it doesn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t. The real deal, in other words.
