If you’re looking for a boozy diversion this weekend, then check out Arrels del Vi, a festival that celebrates the wines of D.O. Empordà with 100 references from 20 different wineries. It is usually held in two different locations each year, one in the beautiful town of Sant Martí d'Empúries – quite worth the drive if you can make it – and the other in Barcelona, for those not able to make the trip up the coast.

The Barcelona version includes a number of activities to taste, enjoy, learn, and experience the Empordà wine world, including activities for kids like painting with wine and games with wine boots. Don’t miss the tasting of the winning wines of the Arrels del Vi 2018 Awards, directed by Anna Vicens, at 6pm. Visitors will also have the chance to purchase bottles at winery prices.

(€15 entry includes €5 wine credit, a Riedel wine glass and a tapa of l’Escala anchovies.)
