Art Nou 2024
By Charlotte Stace
One of the best things about Barcelona is its diverse art scene. In celebration of this, Art Nou festival, which covers both Barcelona and L’Hospitalet, offers young national and international artists the opportunity to establish their first professional relationship with the art market, galleries, self-managed spaces and institutions dedicated to emerging art. Aside from showcasing art, it aims to create spaces also to inspire debate and reflection on art more generally.
This year, Art Nou presents a program of exhibitions with 30 shows and more than 40 artists; an extensive program of activities that includes guided tours, openings, conversations with artists, performances, projections and actions in galleries, institutions and independent spaces.
Some of the spaces involved in Art Nou include L21 Barcelona, Ana Mas Projects, Victor Lope Arte Contemporaneo, Suburbia Contemporary, Mayoral, and Chiquita Room. Artists taking part include Anna Andrzhievskaia, Marc Ávila Català, Federico García Trujillo,Elena Garrigolas and Vicente Prieto Gaggero.
