BACHcelona Festival 2024
By Charlotte Stace
This year’s Bachcelona - a unique festival dedicated to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach - brings imagination, originality and a carefully curated programme to the city once more.
Across all of the festival's activities it seeks to breathe new life into the music of Bach through innovative and unique performances by fusing music with other disciplines such as: theatre (with La Fura dels Baus in 2016); contemporary dance (with Lorena Nogal in 2017); cinema (through its annual film cycle); and the visual arts (with the display of the complete set of prints by Eduardo Chillida entitled “Hommage à Johann Sebastian Bach” in 2014).
Aside from the performances themselves, there’ll be a host of parallel activities with guided tours, talks, conferences and round tables. So, if you’d like to explore the musical world of Bach and support young local talent, then make sure to add this one to your calendar.
