Barcelona marathon 2024
By Charlotte Stace
The Barcelona Marathon celebrates yet another edition this March. The marathon has become a sought after location for runners since its inaugural edition in the coastal town of Mataró in the 1970s. Yet, this year, the circular course is undergoing a change. Still promising to be one of the continent’s most attractive, it’ll now be more urban, efficient and more touristic.
The start line will take place on Passeig de Gràcia, between Gran Vía and Plaça Catalunya, and the finish line will be at the Arc de Triomf. The new route will include at least 15 iconic points of the city and will primarily run through the city centre. And for those who prefer spectating to competing, food tasting, bands and cultural activities will be on hand throughout.
If you’re interested in watching, head down to any number of spectator points along the route, where there’ll be entertainment and refreshments to keep you going while you cheer the runners along.
