Black Sea Dahu
By Charlotte Stace
Formed by singer-songwriter Janine Cathrein, Black Sea Dahu is a seven-piece band that is made up of her closest friends and family.
Based in Zürich, this creative alliance produced their acclaimed debut album White Creatures in 2018. Following this, they released the EP 'No Fire in the Sand' which was co-produced by Gavin Gardiner. Since the release of these records, the group has toured throughout Europe, filling clubs and sharing stages with artists such as Ben Howard, José Gonzales, Lucy Rose and Sophie Hunger.
Above all, their music is about empathy, acceptance and the art of recognizing beauty in an endless journey between the mediocre and the sublime. It touches on the struggle to find roots and a home in a world that is always changing, as well as all the types of relationships we have throughout our lives: love, family, and society.
