Boicot Presents: Regis + Surgeon
By Kit Macdonald
This is one of two parties this weekend that will bring the curtain down on events at The Garage of the Bass Valley until the venue returns in early September after a round of summer renovations. And what a party it is, with two of the heaviest hitters in UK techno booked to play all night long. Regis, pictured, and Surgeon know each other inside out, with the two having redefined the sound of UK techno via their long-running production collaboration, British Murder Boys.
That name first turned up on the release sheets in 2003 but it was only a few weeks ago that the first British Murder Boys album, Active Agents and House Boys, came out. Though this isn't officially a British Murder Boys show, the mood at this night is highly likely to mirror the dark and moody atmosphere of their gloriously crepuscular debut LP.
Toni Amador plays a closing set on Friday, while on Saturday the final party before TGOTBV's renovations features sets from Franck, Sara Krin, Nhymph and Jakko.
