LA-born musician and songwriter Chris Cohen has been a central and much-respected figure in American indie for more than two decades now. From 2002 until 2006 he was a member of Deerhoof, and up until 2012 he was also involved with, deep breath: Natural Dreamers, Cryptacize, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, White Magic, Cass McCombs, Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Danielson, EZTV and his own band, The Curtains.

Since going solo in 2012 Cohen has released four LPs at a considered rate of one every four or five years. The first three came out on the Captured Tracks label and dealt in subtle complexities, layered instrumentation and an intimate, dreamlike quality. The fourth, Paint a Room, is on the Hardly Art label and adds even greater complexity and emotional depth to the sound painstakingly and lovingly built by Cohen over the past decade and a bit.
