Club Marabú 001
By Mark Dix
The emergence of Club Marabú has the makings of a successful addition to our clubbing scene, which can feel limited compared to other cities of comparable size. Embracing the postmodern digital aesthetic popular among consumers of music and visual art, influential indie label Canada Editorial are expanding their repertoire of finely curated lineups in atypical venues.
Club Marabú 001 presents the dulcet compositions of Australian Andras Fox, whose ‘80s percussion and naïve melodies create the perfect pairing for the kitsch surroundings of Marabú. Local support comes from individuals in high demand for their contributions to the producers scene in Barcelona. Pau Roca’s Bons Records imprint peddles house in its purest form while American import Ivy Barkakati co-runs the Anòmia label, essential listening for fans of rough-cut analog.
