Cruïlla 2017
By Matthew Duffield
Following hot on the heels of Primavera Sound and Sónar comes the Cruïlla Barcelona Summer Festival. It may be a youngster compared to these two, but Cruïlla is increasingly popular, and has developed an identity and following of its own.
Taking place on July 7th to 9th (Sunday is a low-ley, more intimate affair) at Parc del Fòrum near Poblenou, Cruïlla features six musical arenas. Part of the festival’s attraction is the diversity of its lineup, with established and promising international acts joined by local bands and singers. There really is pretty much something for everyone at Cruïlla, from Pet Shop Boys to The Prodigy to Jamiroquai, Ryan Adams and Youssou N’Dour.
A special mention goes to Two Door Cinema Club, who are playing on Friday night and are known for their live shows. Their infectious blend of indie rock and pop with dance influences should go down a storm.
UPDATE: individual tickets for Friday night and full festival tickets are now sold out.
