Daido Moriyama

Fotocolectania are happy to announce that their current exhibition, Daido Moriyana: A Diary, can be viewed online. Curated by Sara Walker and Louise Wolthers, the exhibition explores the life of the iconic Japanese photographer, who in 2019 was presented with the prestigious Hasselblad award.
One of Japan’s most renowned street photographers, Moriyama’s work bears witness to the fact that a single life contains so many different encounters and emotional states, from despair to tenderness, from the dirty to the clean. Reflecting a harsh vision of city life and its chaos of everyday existence and unusual characters, his work occupies a unique space between the illusory and the real.
This exhibition, which stems from nearly fifty years of image creation, delves into the numerous layers of Moriyama’s life, as well as those of the people he captures in his work.
