Dart Fest 2024
By Charlotte Stace
One of the city’s most interesting film festivals, Dart is a meeting point between cinema and art. A documentary film festival dedicated to contemporary art, its main objective is to spread culture and knowledge.
It does so through documentaries on a variety of artistic mediums: painting, photography, curatorship, performance, architecture, artistic movements and, in general, on contemporary art. Each documentary pays special attention to the artists, their creative processes and the stories behind their work.
So what’s on this year? Highlights include: I am Martin Parr (2024), Arte Povera, Notes for History (2023), FRIDA (2024), Jeff Koons, A Private Portrait (2023), Elements of a Journey: Antoni Tàpies (2023). There is a mix of films: biopics; visual arts projects; and events in the history of contemporary art, from the avant-garde hatching of the early 20th century to the present day. The programme also includes educational activities, such as talks, visits to art galleries, exhibitions, Q&A and debates.
