Death of a salesman

La FIlmoteca de Catalunya will be showing the 1985 classic Death of a Salesman directed by Volker Schlöndorff. Starring Dustin Hoffman, Kate Reid, John Malkovich, Stephen Lang and Charles Durning, the film is an adaptation of the Pulitzer prize winning play of the same name that was written by Arthur Miller in 1949.
It follows Willy, a delusional travelling salesman, who has an estranged relationship with his sons. He is upset with them for not becoming successful in the world. The boys decide to lie to him about starting a business in order to make him happy, which leads to an interesting set of events. Ultimately, the plot deal with change, family, fatherhood, work, and love.
It earned 10 Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations, winning three and one, respectively.
