Duda beat
By Charlotte Stace
Brazilian musician Eduarda Bittencourt Simões, better known as Duda Beat comes to Sala Apolo. Named after the manguebeat countercultural movement, which has combined funk, hip hop, rock, electronics and maracatu since the 90s, she infuses her music with the same essence.
After graduating from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro with a degree in Political Science, she decided a life in politics wasn’t for her and started making music. Her hugely successful first album Sinto Muito (2018) won her the APCA award – one of the main recognitions in Brazilian culture. She went on to release her second studio album, Te Amo Lá Fora, in 2021 which she now comes to promote.
Mixing funk, reggaeton, dub, axé, and tecnobrega, her music is the epitome of dancefloor-fillers with thought-provoking lyrics. Make sure to buy your tickets fast, as this one is likely to sell out.
