Entre les vagues
By Charlotte Stace
As part of this year’s Americana Film Fest, La Filmoteca will screen the American indie film The Braves (Entre les Vagues) (2021). Directed by Anaïs Volpé, the film stars Souheila Yacoub, Déborah Lukumuena and Matthieu Longatte.
The film follows two best friends, Margot and Ánima, who cling to the energy of their youth and their burning desire to conquer the world. Yet, as happens to the majority of us, life gets in the way. We watch as their ride-or-die friendship helps get them out of the obstacles they come up against. They’re unstoppable and inseparable.
Successfully presented at the Cannes Film Festival, this emotional debut from Volpé has become one of the most surprising titles of the latest wave of French-American cinema thanks to the extraordinary performances of Yacoub and Lukumuena.
