This year we’ve been spoiled for sporting events with the likes of the UEFA European Football Championship and the Paris Olympics. But while most people tend to follow these mainstream events, there’s a growing subgenre of sporting competitions for people interested in extreme urban sports. 

Known for having high levels of risk, sports such as BMX biking and skateboarding are becoming a major part of sporting life. In fact, Barcelona is already the European mecca of skateboarding, making it the perfect location for Extreme Barcelona, a festival and competition dedicated to all things urban sports.

This September, it returns for three days and with it it brings a whole host of sporting events in scootering, skateboarding, BMX biking, breaking and basket 3x3. It takes place at the emblematic Parc del Fòrum with the sea as its backdrop. Amongst participating sportspeople, there’ll be experts and rising stars present.
