Casa Montjuic's Music For Airports ambient concert series returns for a new season with a live show from the revered French multidisciplinary artist Félicia Atkinson, whose contemplative, atmospheric work brings together field recordings, French and English spoken-word, modular synthesis, MIDI and organic instrumental textures to create a spare, evocative interplay between sound and silence. Or, as one particularly intriguing analysis has it, her music is "a dialogue between human voices and things that do not speak: landscapes, images, books, memories, ideas".

Her most recent album, Space as an Instrument, is an excellent and highly representative place to start for the uninitiated, which is best listened to when you're in the mood to slip into a contemplative realm where sound and language dissolve into abstraction. Festivals and venues of the stature of Unsound, Berlin Atonal, the Philharmonie de Paris and London's Barbican have staged Atkinson's mesmerising live shows in the past, and the wonderful Casa Montjuic is a worthy addition to that list. Resident Howodd Bensonmum plays a warm-up DJ set from 8.30pm and Atkinson is onstage at 9.30pm.
