Fira modernista in barcelona
By Charlotte Stace
Time travel back to the late 19th century with Barcelona’s Modernista Fair. Held on Carrer de Bruc, the fair celebrates all things modernisme - the artistic and philosophical movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It represented a desire for the creation of new forms of art, philosophy and social organisation which reflected the newly emerging industrial world.
This year, the fair is dedicated to the Catalan playwright and poet Àngel Guimerà i Jorge. Aside from the stalls selling trinkets and modernista memorabilia, there’ll be: workshops from CHROMA - a leading company in conversation and heritage restoration; a new modernista exhibition at Tibidabo; a juggling workshop; the Clàssic Motor Club del Bages car race; a model train; toy library; and live music, amongst so much more.
Even if you just want to take a look, you’ll be able to stroll up and down Carrer Bruc, taking in the architectural and cultural heritage which is unique to the city and renowned worldwide.
