Catalunya is famous for a number of things (the Barça football club, Antoni Gaudí, the Costa Brava, Modernisme…), but one thing not to miss from that list, is cava.

With over 300 wineries, Catalunya is a wine lover's dream come true and the standout region is Penedès, best known for its sparkling cava. Freixenet is the country’s leading cava producer, a centuries-old winery which sits proudly in the heart of Penedès.

Founded in 1914, the Freixenet winery opens its doors for a cava tour. As part of this visit, you can explore the art of making cava, tour the subterranean cava cellars that have been in use for over a century, and, of course, taste the cava. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, join Speakeasy BCN as they organise a group trip to the Freixenet winery with like-minded people. They’ll be meeting at Placa España, before setting off on the 45 minute journey to the winery.
