Gilsons
By Charlotte Stace
The Brazilian musical trio, Gilsons, come to perform live at Sala Apolo. Established in 2018, the group consists of Francisco, João, and José Gilç.
Along with incorporating elements of pop rock, samba, reggae and Bahiano rhythms, they also include música popular brasileira - more commonly known as MPB - in their music, inspired by their father and grandfather Gilberto Gil, who was a prominent musician within this genre.
Following a run of releases, which feature the hits “Várias Queixas,” and “Devagarinho”, the group released their debut album, “Pra Gente Acordar” this year. Subsequently, it was nominated for the Latin Grammy in Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese Language. Having played Rock in Rio’s Sunset Stage with Jorge Aragão to an audience of over 100,000 spectators, and been confirmed for Lollapalooza Brazil, don’t miss the chance to see these MPB successors performing live.
