Good art is not hard to find in Barcelona, but all too often it comes with a price tag that will leave you shuddering. Some galleries offer more accessible options, but these are few and far between.
Hipermerc'art recognized this vacuum thirty years ago, and since then has been providing quality art at accessible prices during the holiday season, supporting local artists and the local contemporary art scene. This year's edition includes a guest appearance by a number of Korean and Japanese artists, including Charles Jang and his Keith Haring-esque works. A local artist taking the city of Barcelona as inspiration is Cristina Cabané, who turns people-filled streets and squares into watercolor dreamscapes. Another locally based artist is Emilie Rubio who presents her minimalist sculpture series casas.November 27, 2014
