One of my favorite cultural centers in the city, Arts Santa Mònica, can be found at the port end of La Rambla. Though not a location that immediately brings art and culture to mind, the space is worth a visit, especially this month as they’re hosting Kronos Art BCN, a “multidisciplinary festival of contemporary art that explores the passage of time.”

Broken down into past, present and future, the festival will feature works from artists including Warhol, Tàpies, Francis Bacon, Miró, Man Ray and Dalí representing the past. The present has work from Banksy, Btoy, Kenor, Miss Van, Victor Castillo and Victor Jaenada among others and the future is represented by primary school-age children who’ve been given a platform to share their vision of time.

With workshops, concerts, live paintings, performances, installations, films, video art and guided tours, it promises to be an essential event to discover how our past and present perception will shape the future of art.
