Lankum
By Charlotte Stace
The Irish folk music group Lankum comes to perform live at Sala Apolo. Formed in the early 2000s in Dublin, the group currently consists of multi-instrumentalists Ian Lynch, Daragh Lynch, Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat. Originally, the Lynch brothers started out as a duo and released the debut album, Where Did We Go Wrong?! (2003). After some time touring Europe, the pair returned to Ireland and became more interested in Irish trad music sessions. From this, they met Peat and MacDiarmada.
Then, as a four-piece band, they released the albums Cold Old Fire (2014) and Between the Earth and Sky (2017). The band's fourth studio album, False Lankum (2023), was released to widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for the Mercury Prize.
