La Filmoteca screens the 2006 indie comedy-drama Little Miss Sunshine. Directed by Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton, it stars some of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors: Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Steve Carell, Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin, and Alan Arkin.
The plot follows a quirky family that makes a road trip in a VW bus to support a daughter in her bid to win the beauty pageant, Little Miss Sunshine. The sanity of everyone involved is stretched to the limit as the group's differences cause problem after problem as they travel along their interstate route. The film is heartwarming and charming, highlighting the small joys and sorrows we all experience while trying to do our best.
The film was a huge success and garnered four nominations at the 79th Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It will be shown in its original version (English) with Spanish subtitles.
