Metalheadz 30 Years: Goldie b2b Special Request
By Kit Macdonald
Metalheadz, the label Goldie launched in 1994 alongside Kemistry & Storm, has been no less than instrumental in popularising drum'n'bass worldwide, and in guiding its development over the years. Early releases by the likes of Photek, Dillinja, and Doc Scott are untouchable pieces of the d'n'b canon, while Goldie's own 1995 album Timeless, also released on Metalheadz, did perhaps more than any other record past or present to bring the genre to the masses.
Special Request, aka Paul Woolford, is one of the countless artists whose own sound and career oqwwes much to Metalheadz, and he and Goldie will play a headlining b2b set that ranks as one of the most mouth-watering engagements in a Barcelona club so far this year. A set from the aforementioned Metalheadz OG Doc Scott and a b2b from KAI and Leverage are also on the menu in Nitsa.
Downstairs in Astin, the Ukraine-born, Belgium-based Dana Montana headlines, with support from Systema and Inexxstable.
