Mostra FIRE
By Charlotte Stace
The city’s leading LGBT film festival - Mostra FIRE!! - returns to Barcelona with a new line up of films to tempt the city’s cinema fanatics once more. Its central aim is to champion diversity, equality and acceptance of all mankind through a unique selection of feature films, short films and documentaries.
The festival’s name is a tribute to the homonymous magazine of the late twenties, FIRE!!. As the first LGBT film festival in Spain, established in 1995 in Barcelona, its main characteristics are a selection of arthouse cinema and an educational approach to engaging audiences through film. Aside from screenings, there’ll be talks, roundtables, and a number of parallel activities for attendees to be a part of.
Some of this year’s highlights include L’Arche de de Noé, Les jours heureux, Till the End of the Night, Unicorns and Housekeeping for Beginners.
