The original zombie horror movie, Night of The Living Dead comes to La Filmoteca. Directed by George A. Romero and released in 1968, this movie put the zombie genre on the map.

Starring Duane Jones and Judith O'Dea, the film follows the story of a group of friends who are trapped overnight in an isolated, rural farmhouse in Pennsylvania. Whilst facing the dawn of a zombie apocalypse, they must attempt to survive the night in the house which is under attack from the zombies.

After its success, it sprouted a movie franchise which brought us the likes of Dawn of The Dead (1978), Day of The Dead (1985), Land of the Dead (2005), and more recently Survival of the Dead (2009) - all of which were directed by Romero. The director, who sadly passed away in 2017, is heralded as the central figure for rooting the zombie genre within the popular culture of the 1960s and beyond.
