Nits daurades Salou
By Charlotte Stace
If you find yourself in Barcelona over the swelteringly hot month of August and looking for events out of the city, then head over to the Costa Daurada. There, you’ll find all the sun, sea and sand you need, and a cultural event to boot! Nits Daurades, held in the coastal town of Salou, comes every August and brings with it a whole host of parties and activities to keep you occupied over a two-week period.
At the heart of this event is a religious celebration of the day of Santa Maria del Mar, patron saint of Salou, held on August 15th. This day is also the last day of the festivities, and is closed with the procession of the Virgin and a spectacular firework display that lights up the coast.
There’ll be concerts, dances, cultural events and other shows on offer - something for the locals and visitors to the area. So, what are you waiting for? Salou is calling.
