La Filmoteca shows the classic American spy thriller, North by Northwest (1959). Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, it stars some of the silver screen’s biggest names: Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Jessie Royce Landis, and Leo G. Carroll.
The film follows the story of a New York City advertising executive who goes on the run after being mistaken for a government agent by a group of foreign spies. Along the way, he falls for a woman whose loyalties he begins to doubt.
The film, which was nominated for three Academy Awards, is listed among the canonical Hitchcock films of the 1950s and is often listed among the greatest films of all time. In 1995, it was chosen for inclusion in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
