Ohlala French Film Fest 2024
By Charlotte Stace
Celebrating French-speaking cinema, Ohlala! Film Festival returns to the city for a brand new edition this month.
The festival takes its name from the very characteristic French expression to express surprise, joy and nostalgia... Ohlalà! Founded in 2018, it is made up of two parts: 1) an official section of films and a retrospective dedicated to a French-speaking director, and 2) films from countries that make up the Francophonie: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Maghreb, French-speaking Africa, Quebec, and many more.
So what’s on? This year’s line up includes En Fanfare (2024) by Emmanuel Courcol, Dissidente (2023) by Pier-Philippe Chevigny, L’adversaire (2002) by Nicole Garcia, La Pampa (2024) by Antoine Chevrollier, and Cien de la casse (2023) by Jean-Baptiste Durand. The festival honours the diversity of perspectives captured across French-speaking cinema and the range of emotions it evokes in us. Films will be subtitled in Spanish and Catalan.
