Perfect love

As part of the D’A Film Festival, Catherine Breillat’s Parfait amour! (Perfect Love) (1996) will be screened at La Filmoteca. Starring Isabelle Renauld, Francis Renaud, and Serge Toubiana, this is one of the festival’s must-see films this year.
The film follows Christophe, who has murdered Frédérique, his lover. He’s in his 20s, an entrepreneur who likes to pick up girls with his misogynist friend Philippe; she’s in her 30s, a doctor twice divorced with two children. After a police reenactment of the crime and an interview with her teenage daughter, the film takes us back to the start of their affair and follows it through to its conclusion.
A searing exploration of love and hate, love and death, the film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and the International Film Festival Rotterdam and was met with a fantastic reception. Don’t miss it showing again on the big screen.
