Rabit (live)
By Kit Macdonald
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Rabit, aka Eric Burton, describes himself as "a storyteller documenting the American South primarily through sound". And a very fine job he does of it too: starting with his much-loved 2015 debut LP Communion, which showcased his ability to merge dissonant textures with moments of haunting beauty, Burton has become an important and cherished figure in experimental electronic music. Three more albums have followed, showcasing and building on a style that blends noise and industrial with bold and beautiful soundscapes and deconstructed club music. Burton also collaborated with Bjork on her award-winning Utopia album, and his live shows have a reputation for being confrontational and beautiful all at once.
Marçal Xirau, a Catalan experimental electronic musician and guitarist based in London, whose second LP, Unveiled, is due to drop any day now, also plays live. Tickets for this are available on Dice and are a steal at €11.50.
