Now celebrating its 24th edition, the ever-excellent Sónar returns from June 15th to 17th with a program mixing live music and clubbing with events and art exhibitions around the city. Sure-fire crowdpleasers include Björk, who opens the festival with a DJ set on May 14th (now sold out).
Soulwax and Jon Hopkins feature among the Friday headliners, and De La Soul and Justice keep the party going until the wee hours on Saturday. Be sure to check out some Spanish talent while you’re in town, too: rapper Bejo and DJs Diego Armando and Ylia are just a few of the national acts on the roster. Throughout the week, the Sónar program offers a number of associated events and exhibitions to check out between sets.
Check out Barcelona Maker Faire from June 17th to 18th, or get inspired by some of music’s greatest icons at exhibitions including Björk Digital at CCCB, David Bowie Is at Museu del Disseny, or Brian Eno: “Lightforms / Soundforms” at Arts Santa Mònica.
