Sorolla - a new dimension
By Charlotte Stace
Visit the exhibition ‘Sorolla, A New Dimension’ at the Centre d’Art Amatller to experience an impressive new look at the artwork of the Valencian artist Joaquín Sorolla.
This exhibition comes to commemorate the centenary of the artist’s death. One of the most celebrated painters in the world, he was an Impressionist painter and a contemporary of Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Camille Pissaro. This exhibition offers a tribute to the artist through state-of-the-art exhibition technologies. It features 360º immersive projections, virtual reality, digital installations, scenographies and other technological resources. It brings a range of Sorolla’s paintings on loan from Museu de Montserrat, Museu Joan Abelló, from Mollet del Vallès, and four private collectors.
The Centre d’Art Amatller, which opened in 2023, is a new format of exhibition space that combines state-of-the-art museography and technology. The 1250 square metre space is located inside the modernista building Casa Amatller on Passeig de Gràcia.
