Sunday Sunday Open Air w/ Skatebård, Lauer, Alison Swing
By Kit Macdonald
Sunday Sunday, or Siempre Domingo as it's known there, is firmly established as one of the finest ways to round off the weekend in Mexico City. With this event it makes the jump to Barcelona with a diverse clutch of guests from Europe and the Americas.
Skatebård and Lauer are musical kindred spirits from Norway and Germany, respectively, whose first collaborative EP, 2019's Crabsticks – Siempre En Domingo, made so much sense that the general reaction to it was disbelief that it hadn't happened before. Both specialise in warm, playful house tracks with plenty of interesting, atmospheric adornments, and both have humour to spare: the EP is about crabs invading the Norwegian coast and the cover art depicts cartoon versions of the pair being chased by a giant crab. A second collaborative EP, Volpe, followed in 2020 - here's hoping a third is on the way.
Also on the bill is Alison Swing, whose roots are in the LA warehouse party scene but who now lives in Berlin, where she runs the night Uforia and guests at a virtual A to Z of the city's most forward-thinking parties. Englishman-in-CDMX Danesholme and Barcelona's own Diego Montiel complete a mouth-watering bill.
