By Charlotte Stace
Indie band The Magnetic Fields come to Paral·lel 62 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1999 album, 69 Love Songs.
The group was founded in the early 1990s by Stephin Merritt, who acts as its main songwriter, producer and singer. They released their debut album Distant Plastic Trees in 1991 which featured the hit single ‘100,000 Fireflies’.
However, their best work is often cited as the 1999 three-volume concept album 69 Love Songs. As its title indicates, it’s a three-volume concept album composed of 69 love songs, all written by Merritt. It features songs in many different genres, including country, synth pop, jazz, and mournful ballads. Although the band has written countless other albums since, this one has continued to resonate with fans old and new over the years.Don’t miss them performing one of the greatest love records ever made.
