The mystery man
By Charlotte Stace

The Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi welcomes a very mystifying exhibition this year. Across five rooms, you’ll be taken on a journey of discovery of one of history’s greatest enigmas: Who was the man in the Holy Shroud?
Known as the mystery of the Holy Shroud of Turin, the shroud is a relic, believed to have been used to wrap the body of Jesus Christ after his death. For years, it has challenged world class scientists and theologians to explain its mysteries - such as how the image of a man’s face could’ve been created on the cloth without using pigments.
This exhibition delves into a story that has played such a pivotal role in the representation of Christ. Research now comes together to present a hyper realistic recreation of the Man in the Shroud. You don’t have to be religious to be curious about this one - come and see it for yourself.
