Our favourite photography exhibition returns to the CCCB for its 20th edition. The most renowned in the field of photojournalism in the world, the World Press Photo 2024 competition is back with a brand new selection of thought-provoking images.

This year's exhibition brings 24 winning projects, including the Photo of the Year, showing a Palestinian woman hugging her niece who has been killed by an Israeli missile, as well as a story by the Spanish photographer Jaime Rojo on what is being done to save the Monarch butterflies.

Six honourable mentions (one for each region of the contest) are also shown, and two additional standout photographs have been selected by the jury that shine a light on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict – Israeli in one case, Palestinian in the other. Other topics covered this year are the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis, mental health issues, and migration, amongst others.
