Young Gallery Weekend
By Daisy Bata
Craving a little culture? Want to get a whopper of an art fix all in one weekend? Hot on the heels of the art fairs of London and Paris and coinciding with the ongoing Swab art fair, Young Gallery Weekend is an independent art festival, this year celebrating it’s fifth outing with five different sections: Art Gallery Roots, Gallerist Meet Collectors, Young Performance Art, Young Art Sound and Young Electronic Art.
In collaboration with 13 galleries and creative spaces, supported by the Ajuntament de Barcelona, and in partnership with Jägermeister and Yzaguirre vermouth, the fair offers up complimentary drinks, events, talks, music and more over four days as well as works by 70 new and emerging artists. Thursday night is a talk and exhibit at Arts Santa Mònica, while Friday is the opening party at Espronceda, with exhibitions, performance art and live experimental music.
Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days with guided tours across a range of spaces and your fill of exhibits, talks and events and a closing party at Nau Bostik. What’s more, it’s all free.
