Bitxarracu
By Michael Mueller
This “tapas gastrobar” is a welcome twist on the concept of the humble tapas bar. Founded by Catalan chef and culinary arts instructor Lluís in 2014, Bitxarracu wasted no time after in quickly establishing itself among locals for the quality and creativity of its tapas as well as its excellent prices.
Try one of their tasting menus with 4 or 5 tapas, dessert, bread and a drink. The à la carte menu varies seasonally but on a recent visit featured delicacies such as mushroom & foie croquettes, calçots tempura with romesco, cap i pota (a traditional Catalan stew), cod confit and patates Bitxarracu. The desserts are homemade.
There’s also a fixed-price lunch menu available on weekdays for €12.80. And best of all the kitchen never closes.
