La Cava Cakery
By Suzy Taher
Cupcakes, cava and coffee… what more could one ask for? Opened by an Irish woman, Aisling Theresa Mackin, La Cava Cakery is a pretty shop with white wood paneling framing the window and a pink neon sign on the back wall that shouts “Cupcakes Baby?!”
The shop has been created with love, from the bespoke marble counter, through which ribbon is fed for wrapping boxes, to the pineapple-shaped chandeliers over the display cabinet. The focus here is 100% on cupcakes. No sandwiches for lunch, or chia pots for breakfast – not even cake. Just cupcakes. The flavors are classic – chocolate, raspberry, Oreo and caramel – and the magic is in the execution: tender, with a lofty tuft of airy frosting, leaving you hunting around for rogue crumbs after you’ve devoured it.
They make great gifts, as whether you buy one or four, they come wrapped in a beautiful box with plenty of ribbon.
