Línea
By Ben Holbrook
Nuzzled away in the sensational Almanac hotel, steps off Passeig de Gràcia, Línia is a glamorous place to indulge in creative Catalan fare and quaff a few glasses of the good stuff.
God knows how much they spent designing the sumptuous space, but it feels like a modern-day Gatsby residence. Chef Sergio Ruiz puts creative twists on traditional local fare – everything is homemade and presented with artistic pizzazz. Start with Dali’s bread served on a painter’s palette with payoyo cheese, mustard, sobrassada & escalivada with anchovies. Mains include wild, red tuna with a cream of celery, radish & pine nuts, and roasted lobster with caviar & mango. Given the quality, the three-course lunch is a steal at €25 (drink included).
Don’t miss the imaginative desserts served in Instagrammable dishes resembling giant cocoa beans and coconuts. Finish with a Dealer’s Choice at the bar: a gin & tonic reimagined with dry Jerez sherry and grapefruit bitters. ¡Y ya está!
