Tunisian DJ/producer Deena Abdelwahed took five years to follow-up her groundbreaking debut LP Khonnar with last summer''s Jbal Rrsas (Mountain of Lead). It was time well spent, not because the blend of traditional Arabic music and vocals with metallic, thumping drums and foreboding synths that Khonnar ushered in needed improvement, but because it has given her the time to develop the sound and aesthetic of the LP in a way that feels complete and fully-formed.

The level of texture on the record is sometimes dizzying, with multiple drum patterns and traditional instruments pulling and pushing in unlikely concert, and a constant driving, underlying groove that makes even her most avant-garde tracks prime dance floor. The album title refers to Abdelwahed's favourite mountain in Tunisia, and this live set will include a major AV element that pays tribute to it and its almost psychedelic surface patterns, which grace the cover of the record.

A kindred spirit in local DJ Niki Lauda will open proceedings in the cafe at 8pm, with Abdelwahed's set starting at 10pm.
