Digitalism
By Ryan Osborne
With an impressive list of eclectic influences, ranging from Daft Punk and The Strokes to Ennio Morricone and Barry Manilow (one of those is a lie – guess which) Digitalism make electronic music to rock out to. Check out their impressive live act at Barcelona’s Razzmatazz this Saturday.
Intent on creating an organic, dirty sound, tonally reminiscent of Joy Division, or early 21st century, indie bands like Franz Ferdinand, Digitalism have blurred the lines between guitar rock and electronica. With a live show that includes modular synthesizers and a live drummer, they’ve developed a certain cross-over appeal and a cult following of fans who have seen them share the stage with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, DJ Format, Moderat and Justice, as well as star-making sets at Coachella and Lollapalooza.
So go and get lost in their driving beats on the Razzmatazz dance floor this Saturday. Then tell all your friends about them. (Doors open at 1am.)
