From the Border
By Charlotte Stace
CaixaForum welcomes a new exhibition entitled From The Border. Curated by Mei Huang, the exhibition is part of the Support for Creation '22 program. It offers a visual experience that questions forms of exclusion or standardisation and values the diversity and complexity of today's world.
This project focuses on the border as the physical limit that separates two states. It is a space of mixing cultures and clashes of ethnicities and nations. Of course, there are historical and geographical borders, and also cultural and intellectual ones. There are invisible borders in people's daily lives, and they can represent differences in skin colour, ethnicity, gender, ideology and culture that can lead to divisions and conflicts.
Yet, at the same time, they can enable inspiration and creativity. The exhibition has been curated with the idea to encourage an exploration of the relevance of borders, which in recent years have become more solid and rigid.
