CaixaForum welcomes a new exhibition on the presentation of landscapes in art. Horizon and Limit brings us a selection of landscape works from the La Caixa Foundation Contemporary Art Collection, whose vision of the landscape is expanded with loans from artists and collections from different institutions.

In European culture, the “landscape” began to be valued as a pictorial genre from the 17th century onwards and reached its maximum expression in the 19th century, from Romanticism to Impressionism. Currently, the natural landscape has returned to the fore due to innovations in digital technology, as well as the concern generated by the deterioration of nature and the environmental threat of climate change.

This exhibition is divided into thematic sections that address the fiction of the landscape, the perception and experience of the landscape, as well as the human impact on nature.
